My Educational and Teaching Background:

Ms. Jessen received her undergraduate degrees in English and German with a minor in Japanese from the University of Nebraska Wesleyan in 2014. During this time, she studied abroad in Japan (2 weeks) and two times in Germany (9 months and 2 weeks). From these experiences she learned a great deal about different cultures, languages, as well as developed a love of travel and learning new ways of living. Additionally she was honored with the Alpha Mu Gamma membership for excellence in both Japanese and German.

Ms. Jessen later went on to receive her Masters to Teach English as a Foreign Language from UTSA in 2018. While working on her masters, she taught children in China through VIPKID and learned many new skills about teaching children through TPR. She also had the opportunity to teach college students who were learning English as a Foreign Language at UNAM. 

Ms. Jessen completed her transitional certification for Nebraska in Teaching English from UNK while working at Potter-Dix Schools for three years. During that time, she taught 7-12 ELA, each year bringing a new or different set of grades. When she left Potter-Dix, she moved to Morrill where she taught 10-12 ELA for two years before coming to Bluffs Middle School. While teaching at her two prior school districts, she served as a class sponsor, assistant speech coach, and launched a new speech team as the head coach.
