AMABLE B. TOLENTINO

Dir. Amable B. Tolentino, is a retired Philippine Navy flag-ranked officer who served the country for over 34 years of distinguished military service in various command and leadership positions. He started his military career as a Platoon Commander of the 14" Philippine Marine Company, based in Tawi-Tawi in 1974 and culminated as the Vice Commander, Philippine Navy in 2008.

As Vice Commander of the Philippine Navy, Dir. Tolentino exercised general command and supervision over fleet and marine units and concurrently held the following: Chairman, Board of Senior Officers; Chairman, Navy Modernization Board; Chairman, Navy Weapons Board; Chairman, Board for the Rehabilitation of Ships; Chairman, Education and Training Board and Chairman, Navy Housing Board. Prior to this, he was the Commanding General of the Civil Relations of the AFP, a nationwide and regionally-located unit that fostered closer and stronger working relations between the military and the civil society.

He also taught Command, Management and Leadership subjects at the AFP Joint Command and Staff College having been schooled in the following foreign service colleges: Australian Naval Staff College, Sydney; Asia- Pacific Center for Security Studies, Honolulu; Royal Canadian Forces College, Toronto; and Japan Maritime Safety Agency, Tokyo. He eventually served as the Chief of Staff of the Philippine Military Academy, his Alma Mater. He earned multiple awards for merit, excellence and bravery, among which include the Presidential Legion of Honor, Presidential Citation (2 times), Bronze Cross Medal, Distinguished Service Star (5 times), and the Military Merit Medal (11 times).

After his retirement from the military service, his reputation of integrity and managerial expertise earned for him positions of trust and confidence in two government agencies: the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) from 2008-2017 and the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) from 2018-2022.

Dir. Tolentino graduated from the Philippine Military Academy (Class Marangal); the Naval Intelligence Officers Course; the Coast Guard Officers Course; Japan Maritime Safety Course; Australian Navy Staff Course; and the AFP Joint Command and Staff Course. He was a fellow at the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies and earned his Master's Degree in National Security Administration at the National Defense College.
