BA (Hons) New Media Art is an undergraduate art programme tailored for creative practitioners who wish to advance and expand their existing disciplines through a range of new media platforms. Our students approach new media from their individual creative disciplines: painting, illustration, photography, interior design, animation, film, product design, graphic design, digital art, art education and theatre design, and new and critical contexts that our modules provide help our students identify new applications of their crafts and areas for improvement.
Lecturers in this programme come from a range of professional fields: animation, illustration, graphic design, advertisement, fine art, video art, participatory art, curatorial practice, digital art and live media, therefore the course can provide new and exciting modules each term and support a broad range of independent projects that individual students choose to work on throughout this programme.
Given the continued challenges of the COVID-19 outbreak, our team and school have been carefully following the government advice and have come up with a set of teaching strategies to make sure that our new academic year will be ready for both face-to-face and distance learning. Thanks to the nature of our subject, all our modules can be easily adapted into digital platforms hence, switching between the different modes of learning and teaching is always possible.
Learning and exploring with new media technology has become even more important and critical in our everyday lives and we look forward to working with talented and creative individuals to discuss how creative practices, particularly through utilising different technology can improve our lives.
