The BA (Hons) Management lets you get ahead in your career at the same time as getting on with your life. You can choose from a range of modules in a number of disciplines, working towards an undergraduate degree. If you want to improve your career prospects, part-time learning is a great way to increase your earning potential by developing or updating your knowledge and skills in a subject you are passionate about. Part-time study is flexible and you can go as fast or as slow as you like and can even take a break from your studies if you wish. The BA (Hons) Management lets you tailor your learning to fit around your lifestyle and commitments putting you in control. During the course of the programme you’ll study topics such as leadership, management practice, enterprise, strategy, coaching, operations and project management and in doing so you will gain a critical awareness of the world of business management whilst developing generic and specialist key transferable skills. You will also develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of operational level issues within organisations and the impact of management practice. With part time learning you will complete modules and meet the same requirements as full-time students. You will attend a mix of physical and digital lectures and tutorials at one of our four campuses in the West of Scotland and submit coursework and sit exams alongside your full-time student colleagues. The rest of your learning is independent, directed study which provides a lot of flexibility and means you decide when you want to study. Part-time learning is flexible and it will be up to you how quickly you decide to complete your studies. Our education guidance advisers can help you decide how many modules/credits is right for you.
You should normally have a total of 120 credits at each level of your programme. When you are selecting your optional modules you should normally try to ensure that you have a balance of modules in each term in order to assist you with managing your workload, so you should be studying 60 credits in each term.
Most modules are worth 20 credits however within the BA Management Programme there are also a number of 10 credit modules. These modules normally run over a 6 week period either in the first half of the term (A), or the second half (B). The programme information you will be given will show in which half of the term each of these modules runs in brackets after the module title, e.g (T1A) means that a module runs in the first half of term 1.
Module descriptors will provide you with full details regarding each module including the assessment methods used. For a copy of the module descriptor please contact the MC for the module directly via email. The full Programme Specification Schedule for academic year 23/24 and the Programme Specification can be viewed below. Please note that your individual course plan has been specifically designed to ensure you obtain the correct number of credits at the correct levels and obtain the mandatory core modules required to complete the Programme.
Please Note: Changes to individual course plans should only be considered in exceptional circumstances and it is the responsibility of the individual student to ensure that they fully understand any implications this may have on their individual funding e.g. SAAS Part Time Fee Grant, employer supported study or other.
