Welcome to the BA (Hons) Management programme which offers students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes that contribute to effective management within contemporary organisations. The programme itself has been designed to ensure that it is aligned with the needs of the UK, European and global labour market where a current skills gap in management has been identified.
The BA (Hons) Management contributes to the creation and maintenance of sustainable economic, social and environmental value through effective leadership and management, helping to develop the range and depth of knowledge of core business concepts and skills that are a prerequisite of business school graduates entering employment in organisations, joining corporate graduate schemes, or progressing to further education. The programme develops critical awareness of the world of business management and facilitates, through the acquisition of generic and specialist transferable skills, capacity and capability building for the individual.
In the programme students will be introduced to the concepts of management and the role of managers in dynamic business contexts. As they progress they will develop in depth knowledge and understanding of operational level issues within organisations and the impact of management practice. They will also gain theoretical knowledge of management with an emphasis on strategic level issues of organisations. Throughout the programme students will apply their knowledge and skills in specific organisational environments whilst learning about the range of leadership and management challenges facing the contemporary manager and the potential solutions which can be applied to overcome these.
