Relate their current emotion to baby faces, respond to one of three simple, fun questions about working from home. Practice a breathing exercise that supports a feeling of ease and calm. (Demo video)
Comfortable, at ease, reconnected
Notice what their own courage looks like today, recall an example of courage in their experience and share a way they’ve shown courage before. Practice a yoga pose (optional) and a breathing exercise that support a sense of courage.
Hopeful, brave, confident
Use simple hand gestures to share how they’re feeling today. Notice moments they’ve needed to extend grace to themselves. Spend a mindful moment breathing with hands on heart and speaking phrases that ground them in kindness and grace for self & others.
Peaceful, calm, equanimous
Check in by identifying with flexible (and cute) pets. “Tap in” when you recognize flexible virtual learning practices you’ve used. Recognize the self-awareness and growth you’ve experienced during Distance Learning. Finish with 3 simple chair yoga poses
Resilient, creative, relaxed
Connect to a shade of purple to express your mood today. Reflect on both new and old roles, efforts, dreams and hopes and share in the chat using sentence stems. Practice a breathing strategy and appreciate what we have achieved this extraordinary year.
Joyful, appreciative, reflective
Circles are a special process that needs to be presented as such. It's extremely important to set the tone and expectations of the circle to reflect the core values upon which it is based each and every time a circle forms. These values are what distinguish circle time from all other time. If used consistently, the values that govern the success of the circle, and foster the relationship building and skill development will eventually spread out of the circle into the greater community.
