Southern California Leadership & Technical Training

Every fall, Thespians hosts a dual track event for theatre technicians, aspiring technicians, and students interested in school leadership.  This event, which takes place in September, is accessible for all students to learn new skills, hone and fine tune current skills, and look for new opportunities.  

California Thespian Festival and Competition

Get ready for the best three days of high school theatre in California.  The California State Thespian Festival features numerous performances presented by high school students from throughout the state.  Students may participate in a variety of workshops led by theatre professionals, perform or view individual performance and tech events, audition for scholarships, shop for theatre merchandise, and hang out with 1200 other California Thespians.  This event will be March 31-April 2 2023!

• Competitions include: Monologues, Duet Acting, Group Acting, Musical Theatre Dance, Solo Musical, Duet, Group Musical, Audio Design, Costume Construction, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Makeup Design, Marketing, Scenic Design, Short Film, and Stage Management

International Thespian Festival and Competition

ITF is where you see, think, and do theatre non-stop for a week!  If you rank a superior score at the state competition, you will be invited to compete in the international competition which will be held in Bloomington, Indiana in June 2026.  

At ITF:

• Grow your knowledge with interactive workshops on every aspect of theatre — onstage, backstage, and front-of-house.  

• Experience performances of all kinds: read-throughs and improv, student works and Shakespeare, one-acts and full-scale main stage productions. 

• Showcase your talents through college auditions, tech challenge and the Thespy® Awards. 

• Build your theatre family — you’ll meet thousands of Thespians and theatre educators and form lifelong friendships.

Renaissance Faire

The Renaissance – to be “reborn” – A time when individuals celebrated the awakening of a new idea when the light was let into darkness.  The Renaissance Pleasure Faire celebrates the spirit of this period of history.

We offer the public an opportunity to experience a true Renaissance of our Renaissance, one that was introduced 60 years ago.  The Faire is one of the most diverse places on Earth and an escape from the stresses and demands of the modern-day.  We offer cutting-edge performances, artisans, and culinary delights.
