Vocational Nursing Program (VN)
Program Information
This program runs year-round for a duration of 18 months. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate of completion. As an accredited institution by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT), graduates will be eligible to take the California State Licensure Exam to become Licensed Vocational Nurses. To obtain a California Vocational Nursing license, students must pass the NCLEX-PN exam. The program prepares students for this exam through a combination of classroom instruction and clinical practice at local hospitals. Please note that drug tests and fingerprinting will be conducted on the first day of the program. If a student's drug test results are positive, they will be dismissed from the program without a refund.
Curriculum
The curriculum is based on the body systems approach. Anatomy, physiology, nutrition, pediatrics, pharmacology, growth and development are integrated throughout. The emphasis is on total patient care and progresses from simple to complex utilizing the nursing process. While adapting to changing trends within the healthcare delivery system, the program emphasizes meeting the needs of patients and families throughout the stages of life.
