Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Program Information
The Nursing Assistant Training Program is a 12-week part-time course offered on a Trimester basis. This course is designed for students who have expressed interest in the entry-level nursing profession. This course meets Title 22 regulations in taking care of the geriatric population in the long-term care setting utilizing skills in basic care, emergency care, and communication. Upon successfully completing the program, students will receive a certificate of completion. This program qualifies students to apply for and take the California Competency Exam. Once students pass the state competency exam, the California Department of Public Health will issue them a Certified Nursing Assistant license.

Selection of the Nursing Assistant Program will be filled on a first-come first-served basis of qualified applicants. ICEC reserves the right to designate a certain number of spaces. If a student is not offered a space in the program, a new application is necessary in the next application period.
State Certification Requirement
All students are required to meet the state requirements for hours of theory (60 Hours of Lecture) and clinical attendance (104 Lab/Clinical). The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requires a valid social security or tax/ID number for certification.
Application Requirements
***We recommend completing ICEC's Medical Math and Medical Terminology courses before registering for the C.N.A. Class.
Register online during the registration period. Late registrations will not be accepted.
18 years of age or older
Must have a U.S. high school diploma or GED to register.
***(Transcripts from countries other than the United States MUST be translated and evaluated for equivalency to U.S. High School requirements PRIOR to turning them in.)***
Must have a Social Security card or must have an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Letter from the IRS
Must have a Driver's License or State-issued I.D. Card (*Must not be expired*)
No felony, misdemeanor, or DUI convictions
Must attend the Mandatory Orientation. The date will be provided to you at your registration appointment.
The fingerprinting requirement to qualify for the certification examination is the submission of Live Scan fingerprints. These are evaluated by the California Department of Justice and the F.B.I. Drug tests and fingerprints will be taken on the first day of the program. If the drug test results are positive, you will be dropped from the program without a refund.
Tuition, fees, and other program costs
Supply Fee: $700 includes textbooks, fingerprinting, and C.P.R.
Additional Cost: Students provide their own uniforms, physicals, and lab work.
The Student must also pay the CNA State Exam Fee of $130 (3rd party price subject to change)
