Greetings,
We are pleased to introduce "Making Connections:" professional learning programs for SBCSC staff in alignment with SBCSC's Equity, Justice, and Inclusion priorities. Making Connections is a series of conversations to spur action as part of a broader learning lineup throughout the semester and beyond.
Staff play a key role in developing an inclusive climate and effectively serving a diverse community. Both effectiveness and service depend on understanding and harmonious relationships with coworkers, staff, students, and parents. However, when staff and those they work with and serve come from different backgrounds, hold different values, and operate according to different norms, there is a risk of misunderstanding and discord. The Making Connections learning series helps staff gain an understanding of the diverse groups they serve and develop the knowledge and skills to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and faculty of a wide array of backgrounds.
Mark your calendar. Your supervisors will provide additional information concerning the scheduled sessions closer to the date.
Regards,
