Learning and research at SB College extend far beyond the classroom. Our students and scholars benefit from the college's world-class infrastructure:

• The Central Library: A vast repository of knowledge housing an extensive collection of commerce and management texts, journals, periodicals, back volumes of research journals, and historical archives.

• Digital Resource Center: Seamless access to digital libraries, e-journals, and databases (such as Prowess, N-List, and other e-resources subscribed by the college), ensuring scholars stay updated with the latest global research.

• ICT-Enabled Classrooms: Smart classrooms equipped with modern audio-visual tools to facilitate interactive and engaging learning for postgraduate and Reserch Scholars

• Computer Lab: Dedicated facilities with high-speed internet and access to statistical software (like SPSS, etc.) to aid scholars in their data analysis and advanced research work.

The Department of Commerce invites applications for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme in Commerce for the upcoming academic session. All admissions are strictly governed by the ordinances and regulations of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

• Eligibility Criteria
  Candidates must fulfil the following criteria as per MG University norms:

• Academic Qualification: A master's degree in commerce (M.Com) or a related discipline from a recognised university, with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (or an equivalent CGPA). A relaxation of 5% is applicable for SC/ST candidates.

• Entrance Examination: Candidates must qualify for the MG University Research Aptitude Test (RAT) conducted by the University.

• Exemption from Entrance: Candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET/GATE/Teacher Fellowship or have been awarded an M.Phil. degree from a UGC-recognised university are exempted from the entrance test, as per UGC regulations.

Keeping pace with the evolving academic landscape, the Commerce Research Centre actively facilitates knowledge exchange. During the academic year 2025-26, the department successfully organised 8 online training programmes and webinars. These events featured eminent resource persons and provided valuable insights to research scholars, teachers, and students from across the country.
