Welcome back! This week we'll be having a look at relationships. None of us can say that we can survive without having relationships with others. These relationships could be with a friend, family member or even a teacher, for example.
Watch the video below and then complete the TWO activities thereafter. Remember, the effort you put in, determines the mark you'll receive. Enjoy!
Activity - Characteristics of safe and unsafe relationships
Now that you are able to identify which relationships are safe and unsafe, it's time to design a tree map comparing characteristics of safe and unsafe relationships. Sort the following characteristics of relationships into safe and unsafe:
has trust
is controlling
ignores boundaries
tries to force you to change
proud of your success
non judgemental
always accuses you
uses violence to control you
supportive
pressurises you to do something you don't want to do
transparent and honest
tries to get something by giving
encourages growth
If you are a bit confused, don't worry, I have started the tree map for you. All you need to do is click on the example below.
POSITIVE SELF CONCEPT
Your self concept/self esteem depends on the way you view yourself based on your body image, thoughts and experience. This is why having a good or high self esteem is important:
Activity 1- Summary of ways to build self-esteem in children
Read about how your parents can improve your self-esteem.
Make a summary based on what you have read. Your summary should only consist of 7 sentences.
Sit your parent/guardian down and tell them what they should do to boost your self-esteem
Case Study -Our Brave South African Role Model
Read the case study on the right and complete the questions thereafter. REMEMBER TO USE FULL SENTENCES AND TO MAKE USE OF THE MARK ALLOCATION.
