Committee for Biowaste and Other Waste Collection & Management

In view of the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) Regulation- 2016 and a recent visit of the members of the GPCB in the Department of Biosciences, the Biological and Non-Biological Waste generated due to the Research & Teaching activities in the Department of Biosciences, Saurashtra University, must be segregated in the following categories before collection & disposal:

Four different containers for four types of disposal materials:

(a) Animal materials in Yellow bags

(b) Pathological and Microbiological wastes in Red bags,

(c) Sharp / Glass / metal materials in Blue bag

(d) Discarded chemicals and other materials in Black bag

All are expected to ensure category wise segregation of the waste in their labs before putting into the color coded dust bins, available in the area beside the garage.
