School Counseling Program Vision

The vision of the Diamond Elementary School Counseling program is that all students will be well prepared to have academic success, social/ emotional growth, and be college and career ready to reach their fullest potential in a rapidly changing society. Students will be able to show empathy, responsibility, and respect for all as they grow into lifelong learners and become productive members of society.

School Counseling Program Mission

The mission of the Diamond Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide a proactive and equitable program that assists all students in their academic development, socio-emotional growth, and college and career exploration. The school counselors work to motivate, encourage, and prepare ALL students to maximize their potential in collaboration with parents and the school community. School counselors will advocate to promote a positive school climate that fosters acceptance of diversity, empathy for all, and perseverance through all life's challenges.

Beliefs

  • We believe that all students have a right to a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment.

  • We believe that all students can achieve academic, college/ career, and social/emotional success when given appropriate and timely support interventions as well as rigorous and relevant instruction.

  • The school counselor will advocate for equity and equal access for all students’ socio-emotional, academic, and college/career needs and interests.

  • We believe that collaboration with families, staff, and community resources to meet the students' needs is critical for their success.

  • The school counselor will use data to design, implement, evaluate and continuously improve the comprehensive school counseling program.

  • The American School Counselor Association ethical standards will guide the work of the School Counseling Program and School Counselor.
