Hello!
A little about myself: I began my college journey at Marist College as an Accounting major. I later transferred to SUNY New Paltz, where I shifted my focus to teaching and earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology and PreK-6 certification. I also hold Math 7-12 and Business & Marketing professional certifications and a Master's in Middle Level Education from Walden University.
I started my teaching career at Bailey Middle School in the Kingston City School District, where I taught for four years before returning to my alma mater, Saugerties High School. Over the years, I’ve taught a variety of subjects, including Algebra for 16 years, and began transitioning to business education in 2020. My goal is to create practical lessons that equip students with real-world skills.
Before becoming a teacher, I first worked at Central Bookkeeping and then took over the business from my aunt when she retired. I provided accounting services to local towns like Woodstock and Esopus. I also worked in the financial department at Family of Woodstock, where I learned how to use spreadsheets. Additionally, I served on the Hurley Recreation Board, working in roles such as Treasurer and President, before becoming the Park Director, where I helped start and run a summer camp program for four years.
Beyond the classroom, I am deeply involved in extracurricular activities. I serve as the senior class advisor, sophomore class advisor, and BEC co-advisor, and previously co-advised the yearbook. As senior class advisor, I coordinate major events such as Senior Prom and the Senior Trip to Disney World, while also organizing fundraisers and managing concessions for school events. I also manage the school store.
I am passionate about supporting students both in their academic pursuits and extracurricular activities, and I am excited to continue contributing to the Saugerties High School community.
Outside of school, I have raised four children and have two grandchildren. I cherish spending time with my family and enjoy activities such as reading, creating quilts, walking, and visiting the beach and of course going to Disney World.
Greetings All! My name is Mr. Cooper!
A little about my educational background, I graduated from FDR High School in Hyde Park, NY in 2018. From there I went to Dutchess Community College where I graduated in May of 2020 with two associate of science degrees in Business Administration and Information Management. After graduating from Dutchess Community College I transferred to SUNY Oswego to study Business and Marketing Education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 2024 I earned my Masters in Business Administration from SUNY Oswego. One day I plan to pursue advanced certification or a doctoral degree in educational leadership. After completing my Bachelor's degree, I began my teaching career at Saugerties Central School District as a Business Education Teacher and more recently I have stepped into the role of Business Education Department Chair. I also coach the Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team and the Advisor of the Business Entrepreneurship Club.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy hunting, golfing, playing lacrosse, fishing, camping, hiking, and just about anything else the great outdoors has to offer. A few interesting and memorable facts about me are, I am a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Red Sox Fan. I am an Eagle Scout and through scouting, I have been able to go on a variety of amazing life-changing trips from backpacking in the mountains of New Mexico to sailing the seas of the Bahamas.
