Adaptive PE classes

Adaptive PE class is facilitated by PE and OT personnel.

This school service was developed for many reasons:

~Many of our children need more repetitive opportunities to practice and build eye-hand, bilateral coordination movements, and balance skills.

~Other students have difficulty sitting for long periods of time; building and stimulating core musculature through a variety of motor activities helps students stay more attentive and available to learn.

Who can attend?

Students can be included through recommendations by teachers, Child Study Team, and Special Education Team

who are:

~ developmentally delayed and need more practice or initial gross motor experiences

~ in need of core strengthening and regulation challenges

When does this happen?

Adaptive PE occurs during morning meeting so as not to interfere with instruction
