April 2024 News

Well, spring has finally sprung, and we are hoping to see some warmer temperatures and some green grass in our future!

In Language Arts we will concentrate on Yy and Zz then review the letters Jj, Qq, Vv, Xx, Uu, Gg, W.  After reviewing the popcorn words this, what, here, me, said, want,  they, of, for, and have, we will introduce  help, and too.   We will

introduce the long sounds of a, and  i, showing different spelling patterns that make those sounds

(ex. ai, ay, a_e are all ways to spell the long a sound in words). We will be reviewing the digraphs th, sh, and ch, and continue

in our guided reading groups on decoding, fluency, expression, and comprehension. The children are making nice progress with writing and we are encouraging them to use details and description in their sentences.

Science topics include spring weather, recycling and conservation, and a unit on plants.

In Social Studies, we will learn about growing up, Earth Day, and natural resources.

Lastly, in math we will be finishing up and assessing module 4 then moving on to module 5 which introduces composing and decomposing numbers 11-20 along with counting to 100.

Keep encouraging your child to use the Zearn.com site for daily math practice! Thanks for the continued support of our program.  Email or call us anytime with questions or concerns!
