Week of May 13th

 Math:

This week in math we explored place value.  We played our disappearing zero game as we reviewed teen numbers.

Writing:

In writing we worked on our How to Unit.  We are working on adding sequencing words: First, Next, Then, Now  to our pieces.

ELA and Word Study:

We are working on blending words with digraphs and blends.  We are reviewing our reading strategies as we prepare for our reading assessments.

We read lots of nonfiction books this week about Ocean animals.  We have identified and explored different nonfiction text features: Table of contents, diagrams, labels, captions, and photographs.

Vocabulary: rescue, reply, drenched, daily

High Frequency Words: to, too, do

Social Studies/Science/SEL

We had our ocean field trip this week!  It was so much fun learning about different ocean animals.  Please see photos below

We had some caterpillars delivered to our classroom so we added butterfly nonfiction books to our reading time.  We have been observing our caterpillars this week and some  are now chrysalises!

Thank you for joining us at the art show, book fair, and math night!  Thank you for purchasing books for our classroom.
