Summary
This course is a hands-on, skills-based approach to digital Video Production. Students will utilize a variety of 21st Century tools and skills to publish short audio and video productions. Students will work with digital photos, computer graphics, audio, web and video files, and digital audio/video software applications.
Students will prepare for DVD and online publication as well as create a product for live broadcasting. Students will receive a thorough introduction to the creative and technical aspects of film-making and video production and will learn about the historical foundation of the film and video industries and pathways to employment in the current marketplace.
Competencies:
Computer Basics:
Students will understand basic computer operating system,
applications, and file organization, as well as the process
of troubleshooting common problems.
Pre-Production:
Students will understand the necessary pre-production aspects
of different media projects, including writing for film and video,
outline, storyboard, and script.
Production:
Students understand the various aspects and operation of a video
camera, record both video and audio files, create original sound
effects, and download existing audio files from open-source sites.
Lighting and Composition:
Students identify and utilize concepts and equipment used for video
lighting, properly set up a scene, and demonstrate effective use of
camera angles and composition.
Editing and Software Applications:
Students demonstrate effective use of audio, video, and graphic
media design/editing tools.
Film and Video Industry:
Students demonstrate an understanding of the history of the
industry as well as the ability to collaborate to complete a
project and practice safe use of equipment.
