The Elementary Committee met during the 2024-25 school year to make a recommendation to the School Board. Their charge was to consider remodeling/refurbishing the existing elementary school building, building a new school on the current site, or building a new school on the high school site. Their recommendation, which was presented at the March 5, 2025 School Board meeting, was to build a new school on the current site.
This presentation reviews the committee considerations for each of the building options, what the committee saw as pros and cons of a new building on the current site, and a rough estimate provided by the committee of potential cost for the project.
This Report of Findings documents the evaluation of the current elementary school. This evaluation was part of the charge to an earlier building committee (established in 2019). The three development options considered in this report were to repair the current school facility, to renovate and add to the current school building, or to build new construction (without identification of which land it would be built on). It was the committee's recommendation that the School Board proceed with new school construction.
This document includes a comparison of the benefits and detriments of each construction option and an in-depth review of how well the school building was meeting safety and program requirements. Note that this report was completed in 2021 and there may have been either improvements or further decline since then.
The Elementary School Building Committee Charge calls on the committee to refer to the two documents above - the March 2025 presentation and the 2021 Summary of Findings. There are several other historical documents listed in the charge that the committee may also refer to:
