Equity

Equity

EQUITY Defined: Each and every student receives individualized support needed to be successful. Personal or social circumstances, such as ethnicity, gender, ability, origin, or family background are assets to be cultivated in achieving high levels of learning.

SJUSD Beliefs:

  • San Jacinto Unified School District mission is to provide equity and access to ensure each and every student achieves high levels of learning while developing cultural responsiveness and social responsibility.

  • EQUITY-We believe it is our moral imperative to ensure high levels of learning through equity and access for each and every student. We accomplish this by engaging in inclusive policies and practices, eliminating barriers to student success, embracing and acknowledging our rich diversity, ensuring students receive timely, personalized support, and modeling respectful and dignified interactions at all times.

  • San Jacinto Unified School District seeks to be a leader in overcoming racial injustice and other forms of discrimination.

  • SJUSD values diversity. Diversity is a representation of a range of traits such as race, gender, age, sexual orientation, and people with disabilities. We value diversity and strive to create an inclusive school community, because we want to ensure that all students and staff feel a sense of belonging.

  • We continue to foster equity, inclusion, tolerance, dignity and equal rights for students of color and for ALL students.

  • We believe that ALL people-regardless of their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, or any other individual characteristic deserve to be listened to, respected and appreciated.

  • We believe by working together we can create a more socially just and equitable environment in which to live, work and educate our youth.

  • We do not support racist policies and practices.

SJUSD Supports:

  • Creating learning experiences where students think critically about social injustices and discrimination in all forms

  • Opposing policies that reinforce inequitable learning opportunities or outcomes for students of color and others with special circumstances

  • Acknowledge the negative impact that social injustices plays in the experiences of students and adults from all walks of life

Visualizing Equity: One Size Does Not Fit All

Equity Commitment:

  • SJUSD is committed to increase achievement of each and every student while eliminating the predictability of academic achievement based upon class, race, gender, origin, or ability.

  • We recognize the historical conditions and barriers that have prevented opportunity and access for students who have been traditionally marginalized.

  • We are committed to examine and deconstruct current practices and policies through the lens of equity.

  • SJUSD is committed to implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and recognizes it is a vehicle to ensure we are moving along our equity journey.
