For those students that demonstrate a need, Project HOPE assists in developing daily functional living independence, in relation to their disability, through practicing common daily living activities such as household chores, personal hygiene, and meal preparation. Project HOPE will put a focus on healthy choices, healthy living, citizenship, helping others and personal rights and responsibilities.
At Project HOPE, students have the opportunity to not only learn discrete skills in the classroom, but will also learn how they connect with other areas of adult living and generalize those skills into the community. For example, students may plan a meal, budget for shopping, participate in shopping, prepare the ingredients, cook the meal, set the table, serve the food, clean up, and/or balance bank account from expenses.
