Program Director: Ann Hughes annhughes@sangerisd.net
Program Teacher: Jacquelyn Wilson jacquelyn.wilson@sangerisd.net
Where is Project HOPE located?
Project HOPE is based at Linda Tutt High School in Sanger, Texas.
Will my schedule in Project HOPE be the same as my high school schedule?
No: Your senior year schedule was based on a 4-year High School day which ensured that you would have the required amount of time in each of your core and elective courses. 18+ programming does not have required core and elective courses. There is also no requirement for a commensurate school day like there was during high school. Instead, your day is made up of activities that support your acquisition of adult skills across four domains. 18+ programs, like Project HOPE, are based on your specific goals, strengths, and needs. Any students that attend Project HOPE that are from outside districts will follow the Sanger ISD school calendar.
What about transportation?
Transportation to and from the Project HOPE campus will be provided by your home district. At first, transportation in the community during your day will be provided by Project HOPE. However, you, your parents, and the Project HOPE team will make a plan to transition transportation to you and/or your parents as you near readiness to exit the program.
What job or job internships will be available to me through Project HOPE?
It is a goal of Project HOPE to have volunteer, job sampling, job internships and job placement opportunities at a variety of locations. It is important for us to expose students to as many different experiences as possible. The program does, however, have to rely on the businesses in our program area to embrace the opportunity to work together. Vocational exploration sites will likely vary from year to year. A paid job placement is not guaranteed through Project HOPE. Project HOPE encourages all students who have a goal to be employed to be connected with Texas Workforce Commission prior to entering our program. We work closely with TWC for students on an employment path.
Does every student who returns to school after their senior year attend Project HOPE?
The programming decisions for all students who demonstrate a need for further support after their senior year is determined by the ARD committee. The ARD committee should take into account the student's proposed goals and what type of programming would be most appropriate. While one student my receive their 18+ services at Project HOPE, it may be determined that another student should receive their services at their home district high school.
