VRRAP (Veterans Rapid Retraining Assistance Program) stopped accepting new enrollments as of December 11, 2022.
What is VRRAP?
The Veteran Rapid Retraining Assistance Program (VRRAP), was enacted on March 11, 2021, and was effective, immediately. VRRAP was part of the American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package, with aid targeted to assist individuals and businesses recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eligible Veterans participating in VRRAP receive up to 12 months of tuition and fees and a monthly housing allowance based on Post-9/11 GI Bill rates. Covered education programs must provide training for high-demand occupations, which is determined by the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. GI Bill approved programs of education, excluding bachelor’s and graduate degrees, and VET TEC approved training are eligible.
Current VRRAP Students (FAQ's)
Course Retakes: All students that fail a course are required to retake the course in the next semester. However, VRRAP will only cover the cost of courses that are needed to finish the program and will not pay for any retakes of a course that a student failed. Therefore, it is up to the VRRAP student to make arrangements to pay for the retaken course. This can be done by applying for Financial Aid via FAFSA (if student qualifies for aid), personal or federal students loans, credit card, or cash. The student will need to contact the Finance Manager to make arrangements to pay the outstanding balance at finance@sanfranciscofilmschool.edu.
Certification: The certification process does take time. The VA Manager will certify the VRRAP student in the VA system. However, this is a new system, which means that the VA will see the certification in about 10 business days from the date that SFFS enters the student's information. Once the VA receives it, they will finish the certification process on their end. It is up to the VA, not SFFS, as to how long the certification process will take. It is also up to the VA as to when a student will get paid (which will be done after the VA processes enrollments).
