All students have a Cheqroom account. Cheqroom is our gear management system. You can use Cheqroom to view our gear at any time. When an instructor has greenlit your project, the Gear Manager will allow you to reserve gear in Cheqroom. Limit one reservation per project, except thesis projects. Limit one camera per shoot. Cameras are dependent on level. All items, and all reservations, are subject to approval by the Gear Manager.
All full-time students (both in-person and remote/low residency) will receive use of a Professional Film Production Equipment Package in the same semester that they are enrolled in 101B Introduction to Producing & Directing. This package will consist of a 4K cinema camera, lens, film audio recording kit, and three-point lighting kit. Students will receive ownership of the Professional Film Production Equipment Package upon completion of the program. The Professional Film Production Equipment Package is designed to support and empower students in filmmaking both during school and after graduation.
Students who are pursuing a degree full-time will become eligible for a gear package in the same full semester—not mid-semester— that they are enrolled in 101B if (1) they are in good standing after 30 days, with an attendance rate of 70% or above and a GPA of 2.0 or higher; and (2) they are in good financial standing, with no balance on their account. If you are eligible, you will receive the gear in time to shoot the Fiction Short. If you are eligible, your gear will be available for pickup when you arrive for your 101B Low Residency week (typically the 10th, 11th, or 12th week of the semester). For COIs, students should contact the school's Gear Manager. When requesting a COI, There is a 72 hour turnaround time for requests, not including weekends.

The gear manager will relay this information to the insurance company and will send the COI to the student as soon as it is received.
Note: When shooting on a private property, Students should assume that the property owner will require Proof of Insurance.

The equipment available for students exists to facilitate the production of your projects and films, and you are encouraged to check-out whatever you may need to make your filmmaking vision a reality. To ensure the quality and longevity of the equipment for all students, please adhere to the following Equipment Room rules and procedures.
1. To reserve equipment from the Equipment Room, please email your request to: gear@sanfranciscofilmschool.edu.
2. Please submit your equipment REQUEST at least 72 HOURS prior to pick-up.
3. Please submit a comprehensive equipment request. BE SPECIFIC as to the kind and amount of equipment that you are reserving.
4. When picking up your equipment, please take the time to ENSURE that all of it WORKS PROPERLY and is squared away. This may take some time, so please allow sufficient time to complete the Check-out procedures. REMEMBER: The condition the equipment leaves in, is exactly how it is expected to be returned.
5. Remember to SIGN your CHECK-OUT AGREEMENT, taking your copy with you.
6. Please ensure that ALL EQUIPMENT is RETURNED to its respective case exactly as it was issued to you.
7. Upon return, please allow time for the EQUIPMENT to be INSPECTED. This may take some time, so please allow sufficient time to complete the Check-out procedures.
8. Remember to RE-SIGN your CHECK-OUT AGREEMENT, taking your copy with you for your records.
9. If any equipment is LOST of DAMAGED, the student having signed the Check-out Agreement will be RESPONSIBLE for the REPAIR of REPLACEMENT costs.
10. NON-COMPIANCE with any of these rules may result in SUSPENSION of the student’s CHECK-OUT privileges.
