What is the max the VA will pay for tuition and fees?
The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)-If you are attending a private school, it will pay up to $27,120.05 for the 2023-2024 academic year. An academic year lasts from Aug. 1 to July 31.
The student will be responsible for any outstanding balance that exceeds the yearly cap. They will also have to keep track of how much they have left of their benefits (months/days), whether it is Post 9/11 or any other benefit.
Anything exceeding the yearly cap or not having enough benefits left to pay for tuition and fees will be invoiced to the student for immediate payment. Please keep track of your balances , especially around the middle of the Spring semesters.
It is recommended and encouraged that the student research and apply for FAFSA. That is another way to assist the student with any tuition and fees that exceeds the yearly cap. This is not a mandatory requirement and it is merely a recommendation.
