What is it?

Gender:

is a social construct that refers to the roles, behaviors, expressions, and identities that are considered appropriate for a particular sex.

It is influenced by cultural, societal, and personal beliefs and expectations.

Gender is different to biological sex which is almost always determined at birth as either male or female based on physical characteristics.
