Turkey Giveaway

Description: Sherman Heights Community Center gave out 400 turkeys and sides to families and communities. Thank you to CA State Assemblymember David Alvarez and Councilmember Vivian Moreno who were present to distribute food. Halloween / Wear Red for Red Ribbon Spirit Day Parade

Description: On Friday, October 31st, Sherman students and staff will show their school spirit and wear a costume, wear RED for Red Ribbon Week (or students can come in Free Dress). Please see the following guidelines: there will be no costume masks, blood, gore, or weapons. Any costume can be deemed inappropriate by staff or administration if the costume does not appear to be in good taste or represent the spirit of the activity. It is best if a simple version of the costume is worn, not a lot of make up or pieces that would make it difficult for students to focus in class. Students will enjoy a costume parade at 9:30 am in the morning. Inflatable costumes and friendly masks are permitted during the parade, but students must wear clothing underneath and change out of the costume after the parade.

Date: Our first community school family survey launched on October 27th. This survey is vital to how community schools funding is spent. The needs assessment is the process which guides the community school strategy. The needs assessment identifies what needs and assets exist and which programs, services, or policies can be pursued in order to address needs and leverage assets for academic learning and development.
