The California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section (CIF-SDS) Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) was developed in order to serve as a voice, as well as provide direct access to the San Diego Section office for student-athletes who participate in CIFSDS interscholastic athletic programs. Student leaders will discuss topics that are relevant to high school student-athletes, review current issues or proposals in the State of California or San Diego Section, while maintaining a focus on improving the athletic experience for all stakeholders. Each council member is expected to exemplify leadership and sportsmanlike conduct at all times, while carrying out the overall mission of the CIF San Diego Section.
The San Diego City Conference Student Athlete Advisory Council's main priorities are:
Establishing Student Athlete Advisory Councils at each San Diego Unified high school site.
Creating marketing and information about how to address unsportsmanlike behavior at contests, from students to adults and the community, etc.
Educating students on how to report misconduct, such as hazing, bullying, etc.
The CIFSDS Student Athlete Advisory Council is composed of members who represent each CIFSDS conference and the more than 75,000 athletic participants. Selected SAAC members come from a diverse pool of rising high school senior, juniors, or sophomores who meet the following minimum criteria:
• Meet all eligibility standards as outlined in the CIFSDS Bylaws
• Possess leadership characteristics
• Viewed as positive role models
• Capable of working with students from a variety of social groups
