Math Pathways and Courses
Students have the opportunity to select from a variety of courses throughout their middle and high school math journey. They can choose between the traditional, accelerated, or advanced pathways. Regardless of the pathway chosen, all students have options to choose Advanced and Honors courses in high school. Calculus is available as a fourth-year course regardless of the pathway chosen.
Please contact your local school for further information about course requests.
SDUSD Mathematics Program
In the San Diego Unified School District all of our students should have access to high quality math instruction, rigorous content and a coherent TK-12 mathematics experience. Regardless of the math pathway, every mathematics course in SDUSD offers opportunities to develop mathematically, to problem solve given our diverse world, and to communicate reasoning that contributes positively to the communities in which we live and learn.

Looking to add a 4th year math course at your High School?
Discrete Math Pre-Collegiate (DMPC)? DMPC is an A-G (‘C’) approved fourth-year high school math course. The course has been written to help students find something to love in mathematics and advance their mathematical ways of thinking as described in the Common Core’s Standards for Mathematical Practice. In this course, students play mathematical games, examine the structures of networks, make (and break) codes, and seek, use and justify patterns to solve mathematical problems. More information can be found here. If you interested in adding this course to your site, please contact Jessica Walsh for more information.
NOTE: This course is site funded.
CourseKata Statistics and Data Science is a set of innovative, interactive online textbooks for teaching introductory statistics and data science in high schools, colleges, and universities. CourseKata is focused on modernizing high school mathematics courses. Statistics and Algebra courses can and should be modernized to better prepare students for current college courses and careers. By engaging students to look at real data and model them with functions, CourseKata students understand the usefulness of math while developing a greater interest in more advanced content. CourseKata students model data not only with algebraic notation but also with coding – all in intuitive, purposeful ways that are empowering.
