Course Role

In this course students will begin the year learning about energy and climate change. Each of these topics will be expanded upon by diving into different types of clean energy options as well as the many human impacts that are driving climate change. The learning segment will be wrapped up with students digging into the solutions we are beginning to implement to fight back. Students will research these solutions, focusing on changes that can be made to landscapes, and propose the most efficient option that will help San Diego High School to do it's part in fighting climate change while also helping to modernize historic Balboa Stadium.

Learning/Skill Objectives

Students will...

  • Generate a claim about the best sustainability options to upgrade the landscape around Balboa Stadium.

  • Defend their claim using evidence from their research.

  • Compare and Contrast multiple landscaping techniques to select the most efficient method for the intended location in Balboa stadium.

  • Design a model to represent their vision for the adjustments made to the landscape around Balboa Stadium.
