Mountain View School believes that deep reflection on learning and growth is critical to future success in education, careers, and life. We also believe that students have an ability to plan, produce, and present creative projects. The 8th grade Capstone project is a tradition at Mountain View School that challenges students to engage in that personal reflection and demonstrate their project-related skills.
Students produce a full process essay reflecting on their growth in five areas: personal growth, passions, changemaking, lifelong learning, and project-based learning. Students then create a presentation visual with evidence of their growth and learning. Finally, students deliver a ten minute presentation to a panel of teachers, staff, and family.
Our middle school teachers are incredibly proud of the effort and care students put into all aspects of their Capstone projects. It is very special to witness student presentations and stop to really see each student's wonderful growth and progress. We will miss all of our students dearly and wish them all the best in their next step to high schools all across San Diego.
