My name is Mrs. Gil and I am your second grade teacher. I am one of the teachers that helped plan and open EBS in 2001. Since then I have taught second and fourth grades at this wonderful school. Before teaching at EBS, I worked at other San Diego Unified Schools in my 30 plus years of teaching. I cannot believe how quickly the years have passed.
I was born and raised in San Diego and I am proud of it! My education is rooted in the San Diego Unified School District, beginning at kindergarten through high school graduation. I furthered my education at San Diego State University where I received my Bachelor and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Upon receiving my teaching credential, I was fortunate to return to San Diego Unified as a teacher to continue the responsibilities of fostering learning. It is due to my experiences in SDUSD that I received my degree in education. In addition to my credential, I received my Master's degree in Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development. I am grateful to be inspired by students each year.
I am married to my wonderful husband and I have two amazing sons. Family is important to me and although my sons are adults, we make time to come together.
I enjoy visiting Torrey Pines and walking along various trails to the beach. Perhaps some of you have visited and seen me at the beach. In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
I am thrilled to work at EBS with colleagues, families, and students. It is a special community, especially working closely with my "Busy Bees"!

I was born and raised in San Diego and went to college at the University of Redlands. I came back home to San Diego and back to school to get my teaching credential and Masters of Education. I have been teaching in San Diego Unified School District since 1998.
I married my husband in 2004. We welcomed our daughter into the world in 2008 and our son in 2013. She is currently a senior and he is an 8th grader. I am extremely fortunate to be living in my childhood home in Solana Beach.
I love going to the beach, doing yoga, and traveling as much as possible. This summer our family went to Ireland and we got to hold lambs.
I am excited to be at EBS for my third year. I will work on Mondays in 1st grade with Mrs. Castillo, Wednesdays in 3rd grade with Mrs. Sandefur, and ! will be here in 2nd grade on Fridays.
