Having issues with your Chromebook? Read below and see what solutions work for you!
If your device is still not working, please see the librarian or the site tech, both located inside the library.
Won't turn on/Black screen, but the power button lights up: This usually means the Chromebook is frozen.
Solution: hold down the refresh button (spinning arrow) and the power button until the light turns off completely. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button. The device should turn on.
My computer is asking me to put in my old password, but it doesn't work: you should not be putitng in your old password, if you remember it.
Solution: Select the option, "Forgot Old Password," select continue on the next screen, wait a few moments. Your desktop should appear and your computer should be working.
The screen is glitching out/lags: The Chromebook usually needs a refresh.
Solution: Hold down the ctrl and alt buttons, shift button, and the r key at the same time. A menu will pop up asking if you want to perform a powerwash on your device. Click yes, and let the device refresh itself. Once it does, add the school's WIFI: I21WIRELESS (you will need to type it in). Once you get to the login screen, you should be go to go.
Trouble accessing exams/assignments/quiz/etc. Usually a simple fix.
Solution: Clear ALL browsing data in your Google Acocunt. Click on the three little dots on the upper left part of the screen, select "History" or press CTRL + H, select Clear Browsing Data, change time range to All Time, then select Clear Data. Usually takes a few moments to minutes.
This should do the trick, if not, contact your teacher and/or site tech.
I can't get into Powerschool, it says I'm not authorized: You need to be given permission first.
Solution: Head to the library to see the site tech, they will help you get Powerschool access.
I can't get into Powerschool, it says login expired: simple solution.
Solution: Clear all of your browsing history and type in Google: SDUSD Powerschool, click on the link from San Diego High School (first result), click on link to PowerSchool. Manually type in your ID# and password to login. This should do the trick.
I can't get into Canvas, it says blocked/no access: Simple solution.
Solution: Clear all of your browsing history and type in Google: SDUSD Canvas. Log in and manually type in your ID# and password. This should do the trick.
The internet won't work: The Chromebook is having connection issues.
Solution: Open your settings and go to WIFI. Turn it off, then on again. Click on the "+" button and add the school's WIFI: I21WIRELESS. If red text appears on the bottom of the screen, you need to go to the library to switch out your device.
My Chromebook is missing/damaged/stolen: The Chromebook was not properly taken care of.
Solution: You need to go speak with the librarian, and a fine may be placed on your account.
My Chromebook is saying it's locked: This means it has been reported lost/stolen.
Solution: You need to go speak with the librarian.
