Physical & Health Impairments (PHI)
Teachers of students with Physical and Health Impairments (PHI) serve students from birth to 22 years old who have a severe orthopedic impairment (OI) that adversely affect a child’s educational performance or access to the curriculum.
We also support a population of students under the category of Other Health Impaired (OHI) who are defined as; having limited strength, vitality or alertness, due to chronic or acute health problems which adversely affect a student’s educational performance.
Additionally, we also serve students with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
*All of aforementioned handicapping conditions must be confirmed by a medical diagnosis.*
ELIGIBILITY: Educational and medical evaluations determine if a student's physical or health disability adversely affects their educational performance and therefore requires modification, equipment, and/or support services.
To be eligible for the PHI Program, students must have a diagnosed medical condition that impedes their ability to perform educationally or requires modifications and specialized training.
