This years client is Strategic Energy Innovations and the audience for students will be children, teens and adults. The overall focus for our project will be on critical thinking and the examination of the issues surrounding food sustainability and the implementation of solutions in the community. Students will analyze five aspects of food sustainability (Food Waste, Food Security, Lack of Land and Water, Reducing c02 and Pesticides) through research and production in ELA, media, and Biology. Students will explore the impact of significant events and the many causes that have resulted in the dire need to make significant changes. Throughout both semesters, production teams will analyze content and design innovative media products to promote changes on the individual and community scale. Students will be designing multimedia products that reinforce print media and digital media skills and content. They will begin by skillbuilding with different media programs during the fall semester and then move into production during second semester, producing a P.S.A. video with a call to action, an infographic, a button and lyrics to an original song. The products will demonstrate critical thinking and innovative thinking by perpetuating the idea that effective change is a result of analyzing information and acting based on a synthesis of analytical reasoning. The project will culminate in a final celebration at Kearny in May where students will present their media products through interactive presentations designed to engage the community.
