Goal: Engage all stakeholders to understand the community’s needs, wants, and assets comprehensively.
Purpose: Identify key areas of growth/need to form stakeholder-driven working groups focused on direct action and resource allocation for prioritized concerns.
Process: Engage in a series of focus groups as well as surveys and one-on-one conversations to ensure multiple data-points are garnered from all educational partners (students, parents, staff/teachers, and community partners) regarding their chief concerns for the community as well as highlight actions that they may be willing to take within the community schools work.
See each stakeholder page for a more detailed outline of the process for each group.
At Hoover, the rollout of the needs and assets assessment began with staff engagement to build buy-in. This foundation allowed for a seamless extension of the assessment process to students. ELA/ELD classroom teachers facilitated student focus groups and distributed surveys during class.
