Students will study hypoxia resulting from human activity and its affects on San Diego River and coastal marine ecosystems. They will investigate the threat of hypoxia on fish species by analyzing data collected from local waters.
We will review the many applications of underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to study aquatic ecosystems.
We will apply our understanding of ROV components to design payload devices to mitigate human impact on aquatic ecosystems.
"Biomimicry is a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges - and find hope along the way." - Biomimicry Institute
We will learn about biomimicry design principles and apply our findings about structure and function among organisms to produce ROV components.
