Gateway to Tech

The goal of this class is to introduce students to technology, and motivate them to become creative innovators. Students will design and build video games, program micro-computers, and learn about the mechanics of simple and powered machines with LEGOs. Other units will encompass digital citizenship, basics of technology and coding, and 3D design.

Intro to Video

In this class students will use technology tools to complete and publish multimedia projects. Students will learn problem solving and critical thinking skills by working in different project-based environments. Students will code games and engineer circuitry. They will use digital cameras to frame and edit digital images and videos. They will learn elements of 3D design and printing.

Advanced Tech (Exploring Tech)

In this 6th grade only class, students will build on their skills learned in Gateway to Tech or Intro to Video. The Students work on designing, building and coding mobile apps, and VEX robots. Students will continue to build on their prior knowledge in graphic design, flowcharting, and 3D printing. Students will complete the Project Lead the Way classes, App Creators & Automation & Robotics.

Advanced Video (TSS)

In this 6th grade only class, students will build on their skills learned in Gateway to Tech or Intro to Video.TSS students are responsible for producing the monthly grade-level broadcast and creating the Dana Yearbook. They will record, edit, write pieces, act, interview, and have creative liberties related to the creation and execution of the Dana Mariner Broadcast. Students will learn various skills related to broadcast journalism, graphic design, and video editing.
