2021
Nau Mai, Haere Mai and welcome back to school for Term 2 2021. We hope you have all had a wonderful break and are ready for a busy and exciting term of learning!
A friendly reminder that our classrooms are only open from 8.30 am and students are encouraged to arrive at this time in order to get set up for the day.
Our students are expected to be responsible for their own possessions and this will be easier if all their clothing and equipment is clearly named.
As fuel for their learning, your child will need a nutritious and healthy lunch and morning tea. We are a health promoting school and kindly ask you to ensure that lollies, chocolate and flavoured drinks are not brought to school.
Thank you for your support with ensuring your child has the correct uniform. As it is Term 2 all students should now be wearing their Winter uniform, including the school socks and black school shoes. All students must have their school PE gear at school every day. We will be training for Cross Country this term, you may bring old clothes, a towel and running shoes to prepare for this. Please also make sure that if your child has pierced ears they only wear small gold or silver studs.
Here is our learning focus for Term 2:
For the first few weeks we will continue to focus on the learning concept of Turangawaewae.
The Enduring Understanding for this learning is: Turangawae is the place where we feel empowered and connected to our past, present and future. It is our foundation in the world where we live, our faith and our home.
As part of this we will be asking:
● What is turangawaewae?
● What shapes our turangawaewae?
● Why value other’s turangawaewae?
Then we will move onto the learning concept of Curiosity.
The Enduring Understanding for this learning is: Curiosity over time has inspired people to open their hearts and minds as they explore and understand the wonders of God’s world.
As part of this we will be asking:
● Why be curious?
● How do open hearts and minds affect curiosity?
● How can faith shape our curiosity?
Please note that there will be no prescribed home-learning. It is an expectation that all students complete any outstanding Seesaw and class learning activities at home. Teachers will also be sending home activities to support our structured literacy learning such as spelling lists and spelling games.
Here are some of the learning areas we shall cover during Term 2:
