READING:
If you are looking for things to help your child in their reading.
Have them read to you, but also read with them.
Talk about what they have read so that they have an understanding of what they are reading. If not, then the book is too hard.
Rhyming words
Pop Words....practice 1x each night. Please do not do all 4 timings in 1 or 2 nights. **Don't forget to sign/initial the paper and return on Fridays!
MATH: Along with us working on addition and subtraction in school, you could work on this at home too.
The beginning of the year we will be working on adding in different ways (pictures, acting out, number sentences, etc.). You could also work on this at home with your child.
**Count with your child by 1's, 2's, 5's, 10's, 100's - this is harder for some students so randomly count with your child.
**Have your child count money (coins, bills ($1, $5)
-have your child find the number in the Psalter Hymnal in church, identify numbers while traveling, ask what is 10 more than 33? 47? or what is 10 less than 56? 82?
-Can they identify their numbers?
-identifying numbers can be a struggle for some, so please keep asking your child to find numbers in books....please, do not do it for them!
**keep working on adding with your child at home so that it becomes natural for them to know their math facts. (flashcards, apps on your phone/iPad)
