Mr. Minderhoud

May 20 - 24, 2024

If you scroll down further, you will see the tentative assignments for the upcoming week.  Assignments are due to change.  The items below are the plan, but even the best laid plans can change from time to time.  Please make sure that your child is listening carefully in class to see if things do change.

There will be in-class assignments almost EVERY day.  Homework will consist of what is not accomplished during the schooldays, so the amount of math homework is often dependent upon how well students use their time during the schooldays.  Math is something that needs to be practiced regularly, so students should take time to review concepts and math facts often.  Please do your BEST on your homework.  It is okay to make mistakes...that's how we learn.  Assignments are seen as the way in which we practice the new skills and concepts.  It is understandable that mistakes will occur during this period.  Be careful, though.  Do not rush through your work - be neat, make sure that you take time to understand the questions. You may redo homework assignments and tests that are below 90% if that is not satisfactory to you.  Half credit will be given for correctly redone assignments.  This not only gives an opportunity to raise the grade, but more importantly it gives an opportunity to learn from the mistakes that have been made.  Please take those opportunities to improve.

For quiz and test preparation: Review, review, review.  Practice, practice, practice.  Ask questions.  Know when those quizzes and tests are coming so that you can attempt to study more than just the night before.  This allows for opportunities to ask questions to clear up any misunderstandings.

There are extra credit opportunities available EVERY week.  These questions are available on the first day of the school week and due on the last day of the school week.  These extra credit opportunities are not required, but certainly encouraged, and participation will be taken into account when considering the OVERALL level of participation within this class.  Again, it provides an opportunity to raise the math grade, but more importantly offers a weekly mind-challenging question to those who are interested in being s t r e t c h e d just a little further.  Try it!  It's good to be challenged!
