-This week assignment was about designing a model of a pencil holder that can rest on a flat surface using fusion 360.
-I loved how the pen holder twisted.
-I searched thingiverse using pencil holder for inspiration.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4567430
-I edited the design cause i didn't like the cut inside it.
I used Fusion 360 to design my pen holder.
I used ultimaker cura for slicing.
I used Prusa i3 MK2S machine .
PLA filament material .
starting my sketch at yx plane
sketching a rectangle from the origin
making a plane with 10 mm distance from the original plane
making another rectangle with the same dimensions but moving it with 60 degrees at the origin of the rectangle .
making another plane with distance 10 mm from the previous plane.
making the third rectangle with the same dimensions and moving it with 120 degrees in angle at the origin of the rectangle .
making the final plane also with 10mm distance and sketching the final rectangle on it with the same dimensions and without changing the angle
using loft and connecting all the faces together
after lofting
front view
making two copies of the body.
making the base.
revolving the sketch by selecting the design and the axis that we need do revolve about
-at first i moved the the body from the base then i floating the faces of them
then we had one body
-shelling the body so we can use it as pen holder.
making refill for all edges and the base
editing the appearance i changed the color (black) and chose plastic material for my design.
final result!!!
saving the result body as STL by klick right on the body from bodies.
-saving the file as STL from fusion 360
-import the stl file in ultimaker cura for slicing
-editing the print sitting by choosing PLA with infill 10% and 0.2 of profile defaults
-i used support and adhesion for my design
-editing the scales
-slicing the design
- taking one hour and 20 mins, and 10g of PLA
-Then preparing the printer:
-at first checking the filament material to make sure that is enough and with the color i need
-preheating of bed and filament with 215 and 60 degrees.
-from menu choosing the g-code file of the design by pressing the middle button and enter the memory card then scrolling until reaching the desired file and finally pressing on the g-code again to start printing.
-final product:
i asked my friends for a feedback about the scales and they advised me to make it smaller.
i imagined that the pen holder can be printed without changing the scales but it would take about 13 hours if i didn't change it so i made it 36% smaller.
i will use it in making the parts my 3D design of my final project
now i can make any 3D design from A to Z
