The idea of this week's assignment was a Mini Desk Fan with small lantern
In this assignment, I had to make a device related to home usage with two output actions so I decided to make this project which includes the following action:
Rounding the fan blades when I open the switch.
Small lantern box that have a white led that turn on beside the fun using the switch one button.
I have used the TINKER CAD platform for simulating the electronic circuit, and be sure that every components working before start the actual circuit to avoid any damage.
Compass.
Pencil.
Cutter blade.
Scissors.
Screwdriver.
Screws
Glue gun.
Tape
Jumper wires.
switch off/on button.
power supply (5V).
White LED.
Bread board.
DC motor.
Resistor.
Hot Glue.
Cardboard.
First I Used the TINKERCAD platform to simulate the circuit and calculate the values of current and resistors that I will need.
I used the 5V Adaptor as a power source because I just need to run the engine properly , as it is working using range (3v to 5 v) voltage
I had to use 1 of 220 Ohm resistor to prevent the LED burning out as it has the range till (3 v) only.
I used the bush button so I can switch off &on
I also connected the components of the circuit in parallel, because if they are connected in series, the voltage will be divided by the number of components, each according to its resistance, and therefore not all components will work as required.
I placed all the needed components on the breadboard
Clicked on starts simulation
Clicked on the button, to make sure that the motor and the LED working fine before start building the real circuit.
I used the electronic components I mentioned above to build the circuit of the project.
I started with the LED to insert it into the breadboard, then connect it to a resistor(220 Ohm) { the long leg of the Led that act as a node is connected with the anode of the bower source, and the small leg that act as a cathode is connected with a side from resistor and it's other side is connected with the cathode of the power source}
Then the motor, I connected it directly with the anode and the cathode of the bower source.
Finally I added the last component " switch button", I connect its' sides with crocodiles wires then with jumper wires to integrate it in the circuit.{I took off the anode of the power source aside, then placed one of the connected jumper wires to the place of the anode power source itself, and finally the other side will be in the same row as the anode of the powers source is currently placed }
After building all components of circuit, I plugged the adaptor into the electricity source to make sure that it is working properly.
The next step was to cut the cardboard according to the following dimensions:
Electronics enclosure: 20*10*5 cm.
Fan's arm : 15cm.
The neck of the fan: 14cm.
After that, I Assembled the structure of the fan using the glue gun and tape.
After mounting all the circuit and the wires inside the base box.
The most awesome moment to power up the project that I made🥳🥳
The first stuck was related t the switch button and the crocodiles wires, when I connected the switch to the crocodiles and then connect the crocodile with jumper wires finally integrate it into the circuit, it didn't work .
Solution
I used the Avometer to detect the issue and troubleshoot it, I find that the crocodiles have issues and don't acting write however it connected write to the circuit and the Avometer showing that it got 5 V.
I overcame that issue by connecting the switch with two male Jumper wires, then two female That got inserted into the circuit and finally it worked.
When I was connecting the switch and LED with the breadboard, the connection wires were separated many times until I used the adhesive tape to prevent it from separating as shown.
With no doubt, the skills and knowledge that I learned this week will help me to design and build the electronic circuit of the final project.
TIn fact, this week was the most exciting week that I have spent during the diploma until now. I hope that the following weeks will be more exciting than this week. I really have learned a lot of things that I will mention in the next points:
Understanding the concept of the electronic circuit and its components.
Learning how to power every single component
Learning how to power multible components on the same circuit.
Understanding the concept of parallel and series connection.
Learning how to use the Avometer.
