My project focus on a major sustainability problem that world is currently facing, Especially here in Egypt
“The Water Shortage Crisis“
I would like to design and make a ”Smart system Reducing water consumption” by recycling grey water and control consumption, from controlling output clear water (bathroom/kitchen taps) and counting water amount which was consumed and collect grey water from wash basin, bathtub, Kitchen sink and Redirecting it as inputs into devices that can use this water because they do not need the water they use to be pure like washing machine, Flush toilet, Watering plants, Floor cleaning, car washing, .. etc.
Two SDGs concern availability and sustainable management water and sustainable city design. My final project addresses both of them.
Diagram inspired me explains the idea of recycling grey water inside homes
Explain your impact assessment on those four pillars: social, economic, environmental, and natural resources. And, explain how this assessment will influence your project concept and goals.
Impact Assessment Study 🧐
The Smart system Reducing water consumption project should accomplish the following :
control output clear water ( bathroom / kitchen taps ) and counting water amount which was consumed
Calculate daily water consumption and give recommendations
collect grey water from wash basin, bathtub, Kitchen sink and Redirecting it as inputs into devices that can use this water like washing machine, Flush toilet, Watering plants, Floor cleaning, car washing
Construction Parts
I will design it as 2D cutting parts designed by Fusion 360 and fabricated using laser cutting.

Describe how your project will leverage maker tools like laser cutters or 3D printers to reduce waste, and increase maintainability. Also, explain your choice of materials such as fabric, plastic filament, or recycled plastic sheets to support green innovation. Select materials with low environmental impact, and explain their relevance to your project.
Maker Tools in fab lab Egypt
My main focus is on using maker tools and machines such as 3d printers, laser cutters, ...etc to create user features that improve the overall project sustainability.
I'm using maker tools and machines like laser cutters and 3D printers to manufacture the physical structure of the project
I'm mainly using wood and Acrylic as the main materials for the structure.
These may seem like non-sustainable materials—that's right! But I'm focusing on different aspects like maintainability, ease of manufacturing, and reducing waste.
All these aspects are directly related and improving the overall project sustainability.

Describe how you’ll use Arduino programming, along with sensors and actuators, to create functions that improve your project’s efficiency, reduce resource use, or monitor environmental impact.
My main focus is on using the Arduino board and and programming to create user features that improve the overall project sustainability.
I'm using the Arduino board alongside some sensors and actuators to To contribute controlling water as it output form taps, and calculating the amount of water consumed, and redirecting the consumed water to other devices, which improve human overall lives. which is directly related to SDGs 6 and 11.
By using "water flow sensor" I can calculate the amount of water consumed, and take action to reduce these amounts.
Also, by using "motion sensor" it will contribute to reducing wasted water on the wash basins, as the water tap operates when it senses movement near it. When you move away from the water tap, the water stops flowing.
