my assignment idea this week is to prepare pre-designed files for the 3d printer and the laser cutter
I care about this idea to make me familiar with the software I use as for laserworks or ultimaker cura
for the 3d printed model, I was just browsing through thingivesre to find something that looks cute
and funny , so I choose this cute candle holder.
thingiverse if you want to explore all the amazing designs there.

the materials I used was 3mm wood sheets , and red pla filament
in this assignment , we will use several things
websites to get our designs
1- thingiverse for 3d models

2- 3axis for the laser cutter designs
and we will use laserworks to prepare our dxf file for the laser cutter
turning the .dxf file into .rld
and ultimaker cura to turn our .STL into .gcode so the printer can deal with it
The machines used will be
1- El Malky ML96 Laser Cutter and this its manual
using a 3mm sheet of ply wood
2-Ceality Ender 3 Pro 3D Printer and this is its manual
using PLA fillament
laser cutter
ultimaker cura for slicing the .stl file
laserworks for the .dxf

the .stl file
this week's software was to learn slicing using ultimate cura
the .stl file on cura
whe I chose the design it was written it's a no support design
so I cancelled them
the .gcode output on cura
the .gcode
the setting I used to print it, orientation as default no need to modify.
the preparation of the .dxf file on laserworks
to choose which parts to be cut and which to be speed cut
I'll use speed cut and normal cut here
and those are the parameters I used

after we export the .gcode file on the external disk (the sd card)
we put it in the 3d printer and choose it to be printed
the 3d printer starts to heat the nozel and the print bed
to prepare the pla to be printed .
here we see the printer makes a layer after layer until finishing the process

we connect the laser cutter
and choose users
then we choose read
after reading the machine we choose download
and after that we go to the machine
take anew sheet of wood
place it under the laser nozel at a corner
then we go to
file -> choose the wanted file ->enter
the we select the current position to be our origin
and ask the machine to frame the shape so we make sure the sheet of wood is proper
then click the green button to start the process.
and this was the final result for both of the fabricated design

the problem with the design I chose was not having a hole to hang it from
then I drew it and drew a frame to contain the whole tree
but then I encountered a new problem and it was I will reverse cut the tree
eng/ ahmed atef was the one who noticed the problem and we solve it by speed cutting the shape ,so the tree doesn't fall off

the new skills I learned will help me when I try to cut my designs on my own
and to print my needed 3d parts and know the estimated time for the printer to finish
and this will help me a lot when planning for the final project

it was so fun seeing the shape you got turning into thin slices and simulate it on your laptop

This week started with the lecture in which we learned about the materials we will use which are :
Plywood (3mm) for laser cutter
PLA Filament for the 3d printer
and we did a silly yet funny activity (the SuperMakers Plan a Party! 🥳)
it was funny and we used our imagination to its limits to imagine how will this party look like
our mansoura party
