Do you ever need a pen holder, but also a place to keep your notes so they’re easy to access? For this project, I chose to make a simple pen and notes holder.
For Digital Design
Software Used: Fusion 360
I started by designing in Fusion 360, then exported the DXF files to RDWorks and STL files to ultimaker Cura
For Laser Cutting
Software Used: RDWorks
Printer Model: El Malky ML149 CO₂ Laser Cutter
Material Used: 3mm Plywood
I used RDWorks to modify the dxf file sending file to El Malky Laser Cutter and using 3mm Plywood for the materia.
This time, I decided to take my own advice and sketch first before designing in Fusion 360.
I started by making a rough sketch, cutting it out, and putting the paper pieces together to see how it would look.
Then I used a ruler to measure each part and drew detailed dimensions on the paper so I could use them while designing in Fusion 360.
I started by making face A with its dimensions—it had 1 T-slot and 2 X-slots—then I extruded it. I copied it, but this time I used Paste New, because if I just pasted it normally, modifying one would change both.
Then I started working on face B using the same sequence and also duplicated it. The last side I made only once, since it didn’t need duplication.
For the bottom, I used projection to place the opening in exactly the right spot. Finally, I joined all the parts together and saved each face as a DXF file.
Arranging the parts in RDWorks so they take up the least space.
Final Product ✨
Bottom part
After desining extruding fabricating, and assembling them together i recognized that were no circles holes for the nail head, i decieded to re do it from the design again, fabricating and assembling to give the full picture
if i have any advise to after finish design just take some rest and then take a fast last look before saving it as DXF to check these small things so you can modify if needed without wasting materials or any thing
