Create a Cool Glasses for my personal use my glasses design must be a mixed design
which Design the front frame by using Fusion 360 to be fabricated using a Laser Cutter and the side arms Design by using Fusion 360 to be fabricated using a 3D Printer
i decided to Fabricate thug life glasses, i have inspired by it it's very unique sunglass so i take the same idea to make normal glass and then i may turn it to sunglasses again.
Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling, CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB software platform for professional product design and manufacturing. It's the tool of choice to get your students career-ready.
Fusion 360
this program is very professional it allows you to fully control on your model like infill, adhesion, resolution and show the time and weight required for finial product
to be honest it's not professional program but it's totally free and it's good enough by using it i can make some changes like color, cut ,scan ,speed cut and scale
i print by using PLA materials
i cut 3mm wood plate thickness
part 1 (front frame)
2D work i start with draw just half of glass and then i use mirror to draw the same shape in the opposite side with vertical axis
then by using trim i delete the useless lines and i design two hole to fix arms with front frame i make the hole with diameter 3mm because i'll use M3 screw and nut.
after i have finished drawing i make extrude and appearance for shape just to see finial product in 3d
part 2 (two arms)
i build the arm from the base of holder which has hole in the center for easy fix with front frame
this base was 10 mm * 10 mm because the the hole is 3 mm and the nut will take about 5.5 mm so just remain 2mm* 10 mm rectangle,
note that the hole diameter will increase to 3.30 for tolerance of 3d printed part.
i extrude the rectangle 2*10 but i feel like it is very week for this critical point so i use loft to increase volume of the arm special at this corner so i start from half of circle loft to main rectangle 2*10 and i extrude it again to 100 mm
before filet
after filet
part 1
i export my front frame as .dxf for laser cutting
import dxf file to laser cutting i adjust the cutting setting power and speed and download it on machine
i export the arm to stl file two arms each individual
then i collect them on Cura together and choosing the right position to avid support which will increase weight and time required and give the finial product bad surface finish so i tried to avoid using it
the 3d printed has taken 54 minutes to print 8 gm of two weight
after i've assembled the parts i realized that the surface finish was not good because the resolution was not good enough (0,2) and the plastic arm may hart your ear
make the arc in the arm it was kind of hard to understand where should i draw center point and what is the angle of this arc to make it comfortable,
my own glass helped me at this point so i measure the angle and the center point of arc from it
it was 300 mm to left from arc at height of 100 mm.
after i draw arc start from center of main rectangle i use sweep to make thickness of Irregular lines like this arc.
the finial shape was amazing for me it was very cool and look like thung live sunglasses
it will be the power of design and important so when you are ready to design something, you have to be very accurate because every single point will reflect on you product for example :
in my design i draw front frame but once i comparing it with my real glasses i figure out that it will be hard and very sharp on nose, so i make this squire as curved one.
sharp corner
curved corner
after i've finished fabrication of my glasses, i want to make it like thung life sunglasses so i use dxf file to cutter plotter machine cameo3 to cut black vinyl in the same size and i stick ti on front frame
