use 3d printer to print a model and laser cutting machine to cut a model
this eaglez is mainly used for decoration but it can be funny toy which can bite your finger by its movable beak.
i got this model design from thingiverse site
you can check it below
As I was inspired by reading, I liked using a special bookmark, so I decided to make it by using a laser cutting machine on wood plate.
i got this model design from 3axis.co site
you can check it below
this program is very professional it allows you to fully control on your model like infill, adhesion, resolution and show the time and weight required for finial product
to be honest it's not professional program but it's totally free and it's good enough by using it i can make some changes like color, cut ,scan ,speed cut and scale
Machines used
i print by using PLA materials
i cut 3mm wood plate thickness
1) 3d print model
i downloaded stl file from site mention above then open it by Cura then i chose type of printer and materials PLA.
then i adjust printing settings like resolution 0.2 ,infill 15% , shell 1 mm.
my model doesn't need any support or adhesion so i turned them off just i turn on skirt
then i click on slice and preview to check finial shape, time and weight
then click at save to disk to get the gcode file.
2) laser cutting model
i downloaded dxf file from site mention above then open it by laserworkV6 then import and click on the dxf file
then i adjust scale and size of it and start to move it to one side of sheet
start coloring different processes, they must divided to cut, speed cut and scan
then i chose suitable power and speed for each one.
then saving setting in rld file
1) 3d print model
i send gcode file to printer by using usb flash drive and card reader.
then i chose color of pla filament so i remove old color by heating printer and select remove filament from setting options.
and chose color and by using Clipper small cut it with kind of sharp edge and click pull the filament.
i prefer that Turquoise color so i have changed it.
sharp cut
colors
adhesion
printing
2) laser cutting model
i send rld file to pc which linked to laser cutting machine and i check that every thing is right then click download to send file to machine.
then i put my sheet inside machine and fixed it,
then i move nozzle to sheet and select origin point and test power of laser by push pulse,
also i test the cutting area by pushing frame button then click start.
while preparing bookmark to laserworkV6 i found that the letters of my design is not thick enough to scan it, so i ask lab specialist to help me,
she suggested that i should delete letters and write it by my self by using fonts in the same program.
i think it will be the main different between laser processes which just can change once you change speed or power,
