Camera cards holder
I wanted to merge my photography hobby with my need to collect printed photos in one place.
I used the website Yeggi to download the prepared STL file
Cura software
to design and prepare a 3D model that print
MK2 3D Printer (PRUSA 1)
PLA filament
1- open your STL file on cura
2- choose your perfect rotate (the lowest support )
don't forget to slice it and preview it to see simulation layers and support
3- prepare settings to get a 3D model using 25 g filaments at 90 mins
close adhesion
make support for touching buildplate
layer height= 0.3 mm
infill density= 5 %
wall thickness= 0.6 mm
to reduce support, follow the steps:
choose the perfect rotation
make a support overhang angle =70 (the parts are over 70 angle only have a support)
set the default tempreture of prusa MK3:
open material
choose printing Temp = 215
choose build plate Temp = 60
before editing
after editing
NOTE: overhanging degrees, make you imagine where your design needs support
File name contained (Time_weight_infill density_layer height )
4- save the changes into g.code file
wooden mandala decor
I used to draw and paint mandalas when I was young so I decided to make a new version older like me and use laser cutting
I used the website URL to download the prepared DXF file
El Malky ML149 CO2 Laser Cutter
to design and prepare a model which cutting in wood and several materials
Plywood
1- open laserwork software and import your DXF file
2- select which parts you would like to cut with black color, and scan parts with red color
3- identify the power and speed for cut and scan parts
4- save the file as an AI file to open in any device then download with rld extension
Operation process
enter your SD card in the Prusa device
choose your file name by rolling the knob, then press on it to open your g.code file
choose the material, PLA 215/60
the device starts heating to reload the default temp
the screen presents 3 main points to check the progress of printing:
*Time *filament Grams *printed design percentage
:: A cool hint
if you need your model more cool and colorful, you have an option to change filament color :
with cura software, you can control color change at certain times when the printing stops and you can change filament (Advanced)
the other option, by Prusa you can watch the printing process and pause it at any certain point you desire to change the filament color and continue the process
Title of Media
the following steps are manual steps to be sure your fabrication works fine and there is no wastage of material :
press on file button
choose your file name
press on enter button
then press on origin to start cutting from the point
press on the frame button to see dimensions in reality
if you need to move a little bit to the right, left, up, and down, press the upper button
after checking the parameters and settings of the machine, press on the start button
To add some joy to things
The only challenge I had in this assignment was choosing the perfect rotation in the 3D model, but with my instructor discussion I know that it's important to imagine the processing of printing and how a machine creates my model without mistakes which parts need support and which others don't need support, this logic will help me to choose best orientation and reduce support if my model needs.
with a lab specialist, I learned how to reduce support by selecting the adhesion. I made the overhang 70% so if the parts have an overhang of less than 70%, their support will be removed.
